Thoughts on Ghost RIder: Spirit of Vengeance

Ever since I heard of the sequel, I vowed to see it in a theater.  I missed the 1st one and only saw it in DVD.  When I first saw the trailer back in September, I was so excited.  So fast forward 5 months and I finally get to experience the closest thing America has to a Kamen Rider in a theater.

I will say this now, it is NOT a good movie.  The story makes no sense.  Nicolas Cage acts, well, insane.  It doesn't help that the "villain" has basically the same power as the previous one.

The only reason I so badly wanted to see it is Ghost Rider himself, and he did not disappoint.  He looks so much more realistic compared to the first one.  Frankly, he looks so awesome!  This movie is promoted under the Marvel Knights logo and just like the second Punisher movie, it is not family friendly.  No longer just killing demons, this interpretation lashes out and completely incinerates human beings with his chain.  This is clearly meant for people who likes to see cool things first, and if the story turns out to be good, that is just an added bonus.

The word that best differentiates this form the 1st movie is, grittier.

I give it a 2 out of 5, the fact that the Rider is so visually stunning on the big screen saves this from getting a 1.
